Welcome to Haden State School. We are a small, warm and friendly learning community. Our school is passionate about creating happy, curious and assessment literate learners. We believe that authentic relationships establish a safe and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable to have a go and learn from mistakes. Our student’s wellbeing and success is our mission.

Our school supports students to be their best by teaching and modelling positive behaviour for learning. We focus on being safe, being respectful, and being a learner. Our behaviour focus emphasises positive mindset, doing our best and brave recoveries. We strive to ensure that every child and family feels included, valued and supported – everyone has a valuable contribution to make. Our students are accepting, inclusive and forgiving. These are taught as life skills at Haden.

Haden State School is very proud of our unique learning environment. Students are well supported in small classes to achieve academically, socially, physically and culturally. Our multi-age learning environments tailor supports to individual student needs while also focussing on building independence and responsibility for learning. We have a strong focus on Structured Synthetic Phonics to support student spelling and reading development and scaffold foundational skills in literacy and numeracy through explicit teaching, visual learning and contextualised learning experiences. We believe in a balanced approach to learning; ensuring our students interact with learning through technology while also developing proficiency with ‘paper and pencil’.

We recognise the importance of educational experiences before the schooling years. To support our community transition to school, Haden State School provides a school-based Playgroup which is scheduled three (3) times each term in Weeks 3,6,9 on a Friday morning. Our Playgroup Program cordially invites families with preschool aged children to come along and mingle with our younger student cohort in a range of fun and creative activities which support oral language and pre-reading skills.

I look forward to welcoming you to our vibrant school community.

Mrs Peggy Niebling (Principal).
